Mookie's Mission
Donation protected
On Saturday July 16th my family lost a son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson. Tyrone "Mookie" Roberts Jr, was so many things to so many people. He had a heart of gold and he loved his family and friends so much. Mookie was the bravest person I know. He was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia at 6 months old. The doctors told my parents that "he wouldn't live to see 25", well I guess he proved them wrong! Mookie was 31 yrs old when he passed. He's been a soldier and a fighter since the day he was born and he fought until they day God called him home. He was so strong. Somedays I think he fought as hard as he did because he knew how much it would hurt his loved ones if he left us. If that isn't brave I don't know what is. We love him so much for being strong for not just himself, but for all of us. Mookie wanted to go back to school to become a counselor. He wanted to counsel young adults like himself who have sickle cell disease and other chronic illnesses. He wanted to address issues like despression, addiction, and other ailments that are most times associated with suffering from a chronic illness. I want to keep this dream alive for Mookie. My family will be starting a foundation in honor of Tyrone. It will focus on providing support to families and individuals who suffer from sickle cell and other chronic illnesses. It will also branch off to address families with loved ones who are incarcerated with a chronic illnesses and provide support and guidance in trying times. We want to keep Mookie's memory alive and "Mookie's Mission" will do just that. Our family is welcoming ideas and suggestions for the foundation. Any and all support will be welcomed.
All donations will be used towards Mookie's funeral service and launching the foundation. More details will be provided soon. Thank you all for your love and support. We love and appreciate you all.
