Thanks to every one taking the time to consider helping out the kids of the Montana Chapter of Bulgaria's English Speech Tournament (BEST) Foundation! My name is Reid Furubayashi, and I am the current Speech & Debate coach for Petar Bogdan Foreign Language High School in Montana, Bulgaria!
BEST is an official Bulgarian NGO that provides high school students studying English as a second language an opportunity to develop their English language skills, as well as their ability to make persuasive arguments and become confident public speakers. Our Speech and Debate chapter at Peter Bogdan Foreign Language High School is in its second year, and the team has experienced tremendous growth - from twelve students to over thirty (and this is just in the past couple months!). The critical thinking skills and enthusiasm that BEST inspires within these students is truly remarkable. It promotes academic creativity and challenges students to apply what they learn in the classroom. So far, I have been - and continue to be - astonished by the determination and work ethic of these kids. BEST has truly changed the lives of many students here, and the organization provides a unique outlet that many students cannot access at school or at home.
We are currently preparing for the Spring tournaments starting in February, and we are looking forward to an amazing year of competition.
That's where you come in! As everyone knows, traveling costs money. Our school here in Montana has extremely limited funding for extracurricular activities. Between transportation, hotels, and food expenses, the costs go FAR beyond the budget from the school and from the students themselves. EVERY DOLLAR/LEV/EURO HELPS!
The current set goal, along with my students' local fundraising efforts, will go towards funding our year of competition. With the right amount of help, I know we can get there!

Благодарим на всички които са отделили от времето си за да помогнат на децата от Монтанския отбор по речи и дебати. Името ми е Рийд Фурубаяши, и съм сегашният учител по речи и дебати в Гимназия за преподаване на чужди езици „Петър Богдан” Монтана, България.
Бест е официална Българска неправителствена организация, която позволява на ученици изучаващи английски като втори език, да развиват уменията си по английски език, както и възможността да изграждат убедителни аргументи и да бъдат уверени оратори. Нашият орбор по речи и дебати в Гимназията за преподаване на чужди езици, едва във втората си година, претърпя невероятно развитие – от дванайсет ученика, до повече от тридесет (и това е само през последните няколко месеца). Критичното мислене и ентусиазма, който БЕСТ поражда в тези ученици е наистина забележителен. Той насърчава академична креативност и кара учениците да прилагат това което учат в класните си стаи. До момента, аз съм – и ще продължа да бъда – зашеметяван от отдадеността и работната етика на тези деца. БЕСТ наистина промени на много от децата тук, и организацията дава възможност за едно невероятно място, на което учениците могат да се наслаждават в училище, или вкъщи.
В момента се подготвяме за Пролетните турнири, първият от които е през Февруари, и ние не можем да чакаме таази невероятна година.
Тук идва вашата част! Както всички знаем, пътуването струва пари. Училището в Монтана има много ограничени средства за извънкласните дейности. Измежду транспорт, хотел, храна, цените отиват много над бюджета от училището, и учениците. ВСЕКИ ДОЛАР/ЛЕВ/ЕВТО ПОМАГА!
Целта ни за момента, заедно с местните начини за набиране на средства, е да успеем да съберем достатъчно средства за състезанията ни тази година. С достатъчна подкрепа, съм сигурен, че ще успеем.
