Team Mona. Hello to those I've met and those who are supporting the Schliepers as WE join the fight against breast cancer.
I met Ryan 15+ years ago, early in working careers for us both at Creative Labs. Throughout the years, we don't get to see each other as much but continue to consider them family. In older age(s) bonds to be more everlasting and as you likely know Mona has been battling breast cancer. This Gofundme is being setup to help offset any of the recurring costs and to share the love to Mona as her journey progresses.
Mona, Ryan, myself and others became close via gaming as we used to regularly play World of Warcraft. For those of you who've played, you know that everyone plays a role, some take the front end damage, some heal, others do damage to foes....in essence there is a lot of teamwork involved to be successful. In the end, it is a group of people with laser focus on what success looks like...downing content, progressing past an obstacle, etc. Everyone plays an important individual role. Mona (aka Rella) used to be the healer and her primary job was to keep everyone standing despite whatever the task at hand was. It is that same spirit of family and teamwork that I'd like to draw attention to an area that WE can contribute to help.
Personally, I've loved Ryan's FB updates in the Mona's Fight group as they document the journey. Recently, after visiting them in the hospital, Ryan mentioned that he'd be getting Mona a hearing aid to help with her hearing degredation. My grandmother had two of these and I know that a) a good one is a valuable asset to enjoying the world and living every moment and b) they are expensive.
If you run into this Gofundme page, you are likely in the fight too...maybe passively. I'm asking for your active participation so that we can assist to raise funds for a quality hearing aid. My *estimate* for a new quality hearing aid is $1,400 and I could be off by a factor of 3x but I'd like to consider the target of $1,400 as an initial goal and subsequent funds can be used for additional aid activities.

PS Ryan S nor Mona asked for this...it's not their style and could be mis-interpreted as an inconvenience....however my take two fold: 1) they'd be 100% wrong in thinking this would be an inconvenience. There are some things that we can help with...primarily to mitigate some of the costs but mainly to extend our love and affection for the Schliepers. 2) this is the type of thing that Family just do....we see a need and something that we can action/help with, we do. This is something that we WANT TO DO.
