In May of 2015, Dorothy Joseph (aka) Momma Dorothy was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the lungs.  Due to the aggressive nature of this form of cancer, it was recommended by her physicians in Louisiana, where she resides, that she seek treatment at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.  Due to the fact that she is a resident of Louisiana, M.D. Anderson is unable to accept portions of her insurance.  This will place a financial hardship on her as she is beginning a very aggressive treatment which consists of radiation and chemotherapy.  She will be required to travel from Mamou, Louisiana to Houston, Texas several times a month to receive these treatments for an undetermined amount of time. To prevent her from having the burden of a financial hardship and further emotional distress we (the family and friends) of Momma Dorothy have come together and created this Go Fund Me account on her behalf. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $15,000 to assist with medical bills, medications, travel expenses, lodging and other unforeseen expenses that may occur.
