No one ever prepares you for the day, as a child, when you place a parent into hospice care. Or the day when you have to say goodbye.
That day has unfortunately, come for me. Just as life is unpredictable, so was this. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia some time ago, and recently my mother took a bad fall while at her care facility. This fall resulted in a C1/C2 spinal fracture. She was scheduled for surgery to repair, however overnight she began aspirating a bit.
The doctors determined that surgery would be unsafe and recommended hospice for comfort as there were too many risks and they didn’t see the situation improving. We were told to contact family and friends, and given a prognosis of a few days left maybe weeks. Unfortunately, shortly after moving to hospice care, my mother left us. Surrounded by her closest friends.
I have as of this moment, taken a leave from my job. This puts major financial strain on me as I already struggle to get groceries and pay a few bills as is.
Anything that is donated would go towards those bills and groceries as well as contributing to anything I may need going forward with services and memorial items otherwise.
thank you for taking the time to read this far, share this page, and anything else. Comfort and help otherwise.
