When we originally started this campaign Molly needed eye surgery for a detached retina. Well, things have changed. She went in for the surgery and found out she does not have a detached retina she has been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, Uveal Melanoma, there are only an estimated 1200-1800 cases of this rare cancer diagnosed in the United States every year. Molly needs a CT Scan to make sure that this cancer has not spread, as well as pre-op bloodwork. Once all this is done another surgery must be performed where they basically put a piece of gold in her eye that has radiation balls attached to try to kill the cancer. If this,by chance, doesn't work she will have to have the eye removed. Molly Carlson and her husband Mike are self-employed and do not have insurance and could really use our help not only for medical expenses but, also for income as she will not be able to work during this time. Every dollar counts. Mike and Molly are amazing people and really need your help.
Friends, family and fellow fishermen Mrs. Carlson is a small business owner in Freeport Texas of a marine repair and service facility. There was mention of a tournament the last weekend of August in Freeport (dates are tentative), prior to the cancer found in Molly's eye. The Weston family has decided to make this tournament into a benefit if they can gather interest of the fishermen. There will still be a tournament, however to enter you must bring a live/silent auction item to register your team. 50-100 dollar items would be great. All auction items and entry fees will be donated to the cause. The fish will be as follows. Three fish of a different species. King, ling, mahi, wahoo, jack crevalle, snapper (other than red snapper), black fin tuna, and barracuda. This will be a Calcutta paying 50/30/20 if there is interest. If not please take the time to make even a small donation to Molly's go fund me account. Please reply if you feel you can make it and if you have any opinions for the categories. Also, even if you don't fish donate a homemade cake for the auction and come watch the weigh in.
