Molly O'Brien is a warm, wonderful lady whom I've known for almost fifteen years. She is a great mom to her young son Patrick, a caring daughter, aunt, sister, and friend. She gives constantly - it's what she's known and loved for,
Ten years ago, Molly was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure or Cardiomyopathy. A heart transplant was discussed but her doctors decided to try prescription therapy first. Initially, it worked. She got better. Then, last November, she got seriously ill again. She saw doctors, was in and out of hospital but nothing seemed to be working. In early March, her blood pressure plunged. She could barely function. She was referred to the cardiovascular department of Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego. She had an L-VAD implanted - a device to help her heart function. She was placed on the heart transplant list, but because her blood type is rare, the wait will be long. Her recovery will be slow.
Through all this, Molly has remained positive, cheerful, and an inspiration to all who know her. She is still more concerned about everyone else, than herself.
This is our Molly.
Now, we need your help. Molly has been away from work since December, and her insurance will soon run out. Her medical bills are staggering. She is the only income earner in her household.
We need money for bills, for accommodation near the hospital, for transportation, for basic day to day expenses. Please give whatever you can. If you are unable to help financially, please take a moment to say a prayer for a brave, strong, inspiring woman- that helps tremendously too.
Molly is the kind of person who helps others - I have never known her to ask for anything for herself. That's why I am asking for her. And on behalf of her, and all the strong, people out there who are fighting for their health - thank you, and God bless you.
