- A
Transportation For Jared
I have someone who I would like to help, but I will need the help of others to pull this off.
My son's name is Jared Stuart. Jared was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is now 29 and what his doctors call an outlier, as he has lived longer than many who have this debilitating & ultimately fatal disease. Jared has never been one to bemoan his fate or complain about his condition. He is a fighter and survivor.
Jared is one of the most witty, funny, caring young men that I have ever known. Even in the worst of times, he has a special way of putting a smile on others' faces.
Jared had to leave college his sophomore year due to repeated spinal fractures from osteoporosis. However, he has managed to be quite the self-taught academic. He enjoys learning about astronomy, space travel, nature, animals, Native American culture, military history, and the list goes on and on! Jared is a wealth of knowledge about anything and everything that interests him! He is also a big admirer of our founding fathers and our brave military men and women...past and present.
Jared lives with his mother and me in a rural farming community in Mississippi and he needs a new accessable van to get him back and forth to doctors' appointments . The old van has almost 250,000 miles on it now and bounces around so that it is excruciating for him just to ride the 50 miles to see his doctors in Jackson, Mississippi. His mom fears that it will break down one hot day on the highway. She's had to stop working to care for Jared full time now, so money is tight. It would be a great blessing and miracle if we could raise enough to buy the van outright, but even a down payment would go a long way to making this dream a reality!
Jared would not like me asking people to help him, as he thinks others deserve help more. I think Jared needs our help to make the time he has left more comfortable. These outfitted vans with the lift and lock downs for his chair can cost upwards of $60,000.00...so I know this will not be easy, but with prayer and help from others I believe we can do it! Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small because through small acts of kindness...great things are possible!
