Give Bat Ziyon, Betsy her mobility
Donation protected
My friend, Bat Ziyon (Betsy), just celebrated her 60th birthday this week. She is a single mother for 2 young sons (13 and 15 yrs. old). Her own parents passed away and her only sibling is in no position to help.
Unfortunately she was diagnosed with ALS this past April. The doctors say she has a very hard case of the disease.
Until now she was supporting herself well with translating Japanese to English. In her youth she spent 4 years in Japan and loves the language.
All of a sudden, not only isn't she independent but she has to hire a full time Philippine worker 24/7 because it's dangerous for her to walk with the walker (she's fallen and banged her head) and she can't take care of herself.
Her boys need her as mobile and as 'normal' as possible.
Her friend ran a campaign to raise money and she was able to buy a very good second-hand wheelchair (Permobil) in Germany. The shipping and battery campaign wasVERY successful! Thanks to all those who care and donated.
Once the chair gets to Israel (shippers have received payment already), it will have to be adjusted for size ($500) and a ramp will have to be built ($1000) so that Bat Ziyon will be able to enter and leave her home, be independent and get the physical therapy she needs.
The house she is living in must be fixed to accomodate her wheelchair. This will cost another $3000...
Bat Ziyon has also hired a Phillipine worker who will be with her 24/7 to ensure her safety and continue to live as comfortably as possible with this horrible disease.
Thanks...for listening...and being there and taking time to care.
