On June 10, 2016 our Union Sister, Mitzi Campbell, was fatally stabbed while doing her job as a construction laborer. Two people had entered the job site in San Francisco, California and wanted to use the port a potty.  Mitzi let the couple know that it wasn't safe for them to be on the job site and while escorting the couple out was stabbed repeatedly. Her co-workers went looking for her after she didn't return and found her lying on the ground as the couple were going through her pockets. The co-workers chased the suspects and SFPD apprehended them several blocks away. Mitzi was rushed to the hosptial but later succumbed to her injuries.

Mitzi, 58 years old, was a very kind and loving soul who lit up the room the minute she walked in. She loved to have fun and would fill the room with joy and laughter.  She graduated from CityBuild in 2013 and was a proud member of Laborers' Local 261.

We are all devastated by this senseless tragedy and brutal attack. She is survived by her son and grand-daughter.  All funds raised will be given to her family and used for burial expenses. Any assistance no matter how small is appreciated.

We all pray to return home to our families after a hard days work but to be brutally murdered for doing your job and for protecting the safety of your own attackers is just unimaginable.
