I am pleased to announce that I was selected as Miss.Vermont International 2016, which means I will compete for the title of Miss.International 2016 this upcoming July in Jacksonville, FL!
There are many different types of pageants, but this one grabbed my attention because it is platform based. With that said, my goal is raise awareness about CdLS, (Cornelia de Lange Syndrome)
and through that platform help people understand and feel comfortable around those with special needs.
CdLS is near and dear to my heart because it is the syndrome my brother, Miles, was born with. I will be collaborating with the great staff from the Foundation to determine what strategies will work best in the community and at large to raise awareness about CdLS and make a difference.
Aside from a good message, I will compete in four portions at the national competition- Interview, Fitness, Fun Fashion and Evening Gown.
God is good and I'm excited to see where He is taking me with this competition. I will do my best to raise awareness about CdLS across the state of Vermont, and I am looking for sponsorship to get me to nationals. If you feel inclined to donate, your contribution will help! If you can not help monetarily, please stay tuned and remain in support of this cause that is extremely important to me and many others.
*After seeking financial counseling, I have realized that there are far more expenses to cover than I originally had estimated. I'm hoping to bring my brother with me to the competition since he is the reason I want to compete for this title!
Expenses:
1. Deposit $300 --Goal met through sponsorship
2. Entry $1,200 (Met)
3. Accomodations $1000 (Personal met, but would like my brother to join!)
4. Flights $1000
5. Required Fitness Attire (mandatory) $163
6. Orientation suit/dress $300
7.Interview Clothing (mandatory)$300
8. Fun Fashion (mandatory) $300 (Met out of own pocket)
9. Evening Gown (mandatory) $700
10. Hair and make-up $1,500 (this ensures my space for my hair and make up to be done by the official hair and make-up stylists of the Miss International Pageant, these are the only hair and make-up artists allowed in the dressing rooms. This covers community activities, orientations, prelims and finals)
10. 1/2 page Ad for Pageant book $800 (mandatory, this is where I may make the first impression with judges, by offering a brief description and visual about my platform, CdLS)
11. Miscellaneous $1437
Note that these donations specifically do not go directly to the foundation unless donations exceed the listed goal. Miss Vermont Int'l will offer opportunities to donate to the foundation when she is able to hold awareness events under this title.
