Milo the Brave

Meet Milo! I found him laying down in the middle of the road as I was driving through an air base In Georgia . Miles and miles away from any civilization. He saw my car approaching and got up to move but was so weak, he could barely do so. I pulled over and got out , tried to call him over . He came with a little reluctance. But probably hasn’t seen a human in months . He’s completely emaciated, starved and dehydrated . Bugs flying all over him and on him. His skin was just.. so bad . I will never forget that smell. He has sores all over his body and was bleeding on most of those spots . I opened my back door and called him to come in. He was more then willing to get into the AC but He was so weak , that when he went to jump into my car.. he just looked at me with those sad sick puppy eyes .. For help. I picked his frail body up and put him in the back . I had some water in my car and poured it into my hands . He wasn’t interested . I brought him back to my house, I put him in my spare room where he can’t be bothered by anyone or anything. I put a couple blankets down some water and I got him some food . Immediately I reached out to my friend April Summerville who is involved with rescue and has many connections. She told me to just go to this address an hour away and someone will help you . I was so desperate that I just went . I drove an hour away and met the most amazing Vet and his wife . Milo has severe mange , possibly a type that he’s had for so long , his body developed an auto immune response to it . So it’s basically like he has an allergic reaction, every time he gets it :( He is so swollen . They gave him shots and a deep cleaning bath that really seemed to perk him up . I was sent home with specific instructions for his medical care . I have to bring him back everyday to every other day for the next few weeks to make sure Milo is able to get the best care and emergency medical attention he needs . After the long day Milo and I both had , I asked Milo .. “what are we going to do with you?” And he put his head on my arm . I knew . I knew when he looked at me for help when he needed it getting into my car . I’ve decided that instead of turning Milo over to the Shelter or Animal Control , that’s he’s going to become a member of my family.  :) I am raising money to help get some stuff for Milo . I had no intentions of getting a dog . But I also have no intentions of abandoning an animal in need . If you would like to donate to help me get some blankets , toys , gas to vet appointments and some food for Milo , please donate here :) thank you all ! Milo and I thank you
