Hello, my name is Edward Guevara; I'm the 20-year-old son of Mikala Chislom. She is a Breast Cancer survivor and went into remission in 2013. Unfortunately, after a long battle with Liver Cancer, my mother has been given days to weeks to live.

At the untimely age of 56, Mikala was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in her colon. Over the course of a year, the cancer spread to her liver and, in the last few months, to her spine and lungs. She has fought valiantly through numerous chemotherapies, surgeries, and many other procedures.

Everyone knew my mother as the funny, spontaneous, selfless, classy, and loving person she was.

Whether you experienced her as a loving and caring family member, a generous and dependable friend, one of the many patients that she cared deeply for over the past 25 years of being an RN, or being one of her eager students that she mentored and was a knowledgeable professor to.

Mikala's passion has always been to take care of those who can't take care of thesmselves. during her tenure as a Registered Nurse, she mainly worked with terminally ill and brain injury patients.

My family and I currently don't know the final costs associated with her passing ceremony. We would appreciate any support at this time, as the last thing we should be worried about is her financials in this time of grieving. Any funds raised will go towards Mikala's memorial, medical, housing costs, and any other fees that are accrued.
