I'm almost a midwife!!! Well, some would say I already am a midwife, I'm just finalizing it with licensure by the Medical Board of California (MBC). :) I finished classes in November, completed my clinical training earlier this year, submitted my application a week ago to take the NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) exam, and I should be selecting a test date any day now. After passing the exam, I will be licensed by the MBC to support families in one of the most important experiences of their lives. This work is meaningful, and it is a rich and humbling experience. Many of you helped get me here, and that help has been an incredible support in the obvious ways, but also in less obvious ways…of just feeling people believe and care. It means a lot. Thank you.
In addition to the exam and licensure, I have to gather the last bits of supplies for my birth kit, so I'm reaching out for help in these final, startup costs, a few of which are listed below. After startup, I'm on my way!!!

Fingerprint Processing Fee – $49
Fetal doppler (to listen to the baby's heartbeat while in utero) - $880
3M Littmann Classic III Monitoring Stethoscope - $108
Bag, Valve, & Mask for neonatal resuscitation - $225
Bag/backpack/suitcases for transporting gear - $300
Phlebotomy supplies - $250
IV supplies - $ 275
Instruments for suturing and cutting the umbilical cord - $420
