Help Michelle with her Cancer battle!
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
As many of you know, Michelle was originally diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer on May 3, 2019. After undergoing 5 months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, removal of her left-side lymph nodes, and 25 sessions of radiation... she was declared cancer-free on March 6, 2020.
Not only was her success at the time a tremendous accomplishment, but what was equally impressive was her continued positive attitude, willingness to help others, and her persistence in continuing to work and spend time with her nanny families as best she could all throughout her treatments.
Michelle continued to follow doctors orders as prescribed even after her successful battle with her original diagnosis however, in September of 2023 she started experiencing pain in various locations that would come and go. After a few more months of continued issues, the doctors performed more tests shortly before the new year, and it was suspected that the cancer had metastasized into Michelle's bones in several places.
Further testing and bone scans have confirmed this is now Stage 4 cancer which has spread into several locations in Michelle's bones in her body, including her hip, her spine, and shoulder areas (where she had been experiencing pain previously). Michelle has been started right away on various initial treatments, including oral chemotherapy pills and injections.
While Michelle has been historically getting her treatment overseen at her primary hospital, she is deserving of the absolute best care available. For this reason, she is pursing treatment options at "City of Hope" which is a world-class institute specializing in the treatment of cancer. City of Hope not only offers better solutions with currently available treatments, they also open new doors to clinical trials for possible life-saving treatments that would not be available through typical hospitals.
This is where we need your help!
Michelle's current insurance does not cover her upcoming consultation (Over $1000), but with the urgency of this disease her family and friends are encouraging her to do all she can, as quickly as she can, without worry of the medical expenses and lost time from work. Michelle is hopeful her existing provider will authorize these specialized treatments, but that is yet to be determined or guaranteed.
Regardless of treatment expenses and existing copays, Michelle's upcoming treatments will be placing additional financial strain on her and Mike for various reasons, including missed work from her nanny and babysitting jobs (which is typically unpaid). Since a large part of Michelle’s income is from nanny jobs and babysitting, she doesn't fully benefit from the same sick time, vacation time, or other allowances and state benefits that some people receive.
All money donated of course goes directly to Michelle's upcoming treatments and expenses. Finances should be of no concern to people affected by these sorts of life-altering medical setbacks, and we want to help give Michelle and Mike one less thing to worry about... instead, focus on Michelle's treatments and beating this cancer for good! Michelle is one of the toughest women we know and we know she will continue to fight hard, remain optimistic, and overcome!
We received so much support in 2019, we hope to do the same again. Each and every dollar helps, so truly ANY amount is appreciated. If you are unable to donate, even just keeping Michelle in your prayers would be equally appreciated by both Mike & Michelle. Thank you all so much in advance. We will of course update everyone as Michelle progresses through her continued journey...
(Remember when donating that tipping is “optional” which goes to GoFundMe and NOT to myself or Michelle, this is not mandatory!!)
