Hi, my name is Michele Cragun. I'm a 53 year old single self-employed Mom. I have two kids currently at home and I take care of my senior mother as well.
On January 31st of this year I had a very serious and traumatic Injury that turned into nothing short of a Miracle.
I was cutting up some fence wood with a miter saw and somehow my dominant right arm was pulled into the saw. I could see an inch plus deep into my arm and blood was gushing everywhere. I was unable to move my fingers. It sawed through 11 tendons and ligaments and my wrist bone had been shaved off and fragments strewn throughout my arm. I missed the major artery in my wrist by a 1/4" inch and if it had been struck I would have died within minutes.
I was rushed to the Emergency Room where they said I needed immediate surgery. They called the Surgeon they were hoping to reach (it was a Sunday) and he answered on the first call. They said that if he hadn't answered that they were going to have to transfer me to another hospital. By a Miracle, I was in surgery within two hours of the incident with the preferred surgeon. He was able to repair my entire arm in a four hour surgery. The surgeon described my arm as “Shredded”. I later had to have a second surgery to fix one of the tendons that snapped a second time.
Being self-employed and having a variable income, I don’t have health insurance. I've incurred tens of thousands in medical bills which has been overwhelming. This has been a very emotional and traumatic experience to say the least. I’m still working 50+ hour weeks, have to use my left hand for all tasks and have to do therapy on my recovering arm.
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m the last person to ask for help, but I truly would appreciate anyone who can give any amount or even share this to someone you might know who could give. It is a Miracle that I’m still alive, still have my arm and was treated by such a wonderful surgeon and team of people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and considering to give. I’m believing that God will completely heal my arm and am so thankful for your prayers and support during this time.
