Michele Harbath Lewis medical fund

Hi, my name is Jill Stark and I am setting up this Go Fund Me page to help support my dear friend Michele Harbath Lewis, or Shelly, as many of those close to her call her.  Shelly was diagnosed in March, 2016 with terminal peritoneal cancer and was given 6 months to a year to live.  Only 800 people are diagnosed with this type of cancer per year in the US.  Shelly lives alone and has no children, and has progressed to the point that she can no longer care for herself at home.  Any funds we raise through this page will be used for assistance with in-home nursing and palliative care, and to cover some of her escalating medical expenses.  Shelly's need is immediate as she is going home soon from a nursing facility.  She has not been able to work since being diagnosed and is now on disability after a 2 decade career at Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles.  Because of Shelly's many years there, and her innate ability to relate to everyone she meets, I know there is a wide network of people that love and care for Shelly (Michele).  I hope in reading this, you will find it in your heart to help make this time easier and more peaceful for Shelly by helping her to get the help she needs.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

For anyone that would like to read further, here's a little background of how I know Shelly.  Shelly and I met in college at Purdue where we became roommates and partners in crime.  We had so much fun!  She was always the life of the party and was instrumental in bringing friends together for fun and mischief.  Shelly grew up in Indiana, but via Florida and Chicago, moved to Los Angeles over 20 years ago and has made the west coast her home.  Shelly and I lost contact for much of that time, but with the magic of Facebook, have been able to reconnect these past couple of years, and I'm so thankful we did.  I was her wingman all those years ago, and love her dearly.  She has helped many others in need over the years, and now, it's my turn to help her.  Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my dear friend during her time of need.  I can tell you I know Shelly appreciates it more than she is able to express.   Please feel free  to share this and spread the word if you choose, as any donation will help!
