Yesterday our dear friend Michael received the tragic news that his mother Alice Luckins had died. His "biggest regret" was that he "wasn't there for her in her final hour". No matter how much we reassure Michael that he was doing exactly what his Mum wanted him to do - bravely moving to LA and making his dreams come true - no matter how much we remind him of all the hundreds of thousands of times he was such a wonderfully kind and caring son to his mother - we can probably never fully take that pain away from him.
What we can do, however, is make sure he is able to get home for his Mums funeral to say a proper goodbye.
This fundraiser aims to provide a return airfare for Michael from LA to Sydney so that he can attend the funeral and then get back to his new job/acting career in the US afterwards.
$3000 is a lot of money - which is why Michael can't pay for the trip himself - but not surprisingly for a boy as awesomely funny and charming as him - Michael has a lot of friends. If we all just chipped in a couple of dollars we'd reach the goal in no time.
The void left in a young persons life by the death of a parent is enormous. Especially a parent like Alice - who despite her limited means tried her absolute best to give her son all the emotional and practical support she could. Lets show our buddy Michael that our friendship banded together can go a little way to helping fill the hole in his heart left by the loss of his mum.
