Our dear friend Michael Zimmerman, loving husband and father, unfortunately has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon cancer. Cancer is not only scary for a family, but also so stressful physically, mentally and financially. The Zimmerman Family will be faced with a lot of expenses for chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. As we all know, insurance coverage can only help so much and these treatments are extremely costly. We are asking anyone who can, to please donate and to please share this go-fund-me page.

2018 will be forever known as the year that is truly testing our strength - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc. It started with me falling and having my leg and ankle reconstructed and just when we thought life was getting back on track, we get the ultimate hit - Michael was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. After a myriad of tests, Michael started a hybrid treatment on June 18th of chemo with radiation simultaneously. For the next 5-6 weeks Michael will go to Piedmont for radiation daily while also taking oral chemo. As of right now the plan is to take a few weeks off after this treatment and then have surgery to remove any remaining cancer and repair the colon.
When my friends mentioned a GoFundMe page at fist I was hesitant, but then I told myself that this was a time to put my pride aside because we need the help. We have a high out of pocket max per person and we already had to pay one of these this year for my surgery. On top of that, we now have to cover childcare expenses for Henry - my mom, Henry's Gaga, is super grandma but even she needs rest and cannot care for Henry full time. (Part-time preschool starts mid-August.)
Also, we have the unknown of how Michael will tolerate treatment and whether or not he will be able to drive himself or need to take Uber - unfortunately I cannot take off the next 5-6 weeks from work.

What does Stage 3 mean?
Stage 3 means that the cancer has broken through the wall of the colon and in now in the surrounding lymph nodes. At this time his scans show that his liver and lungs look normal - this is where colon cancer tends to spread.
