Baby Mia's Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Little baby Mia was born with Aortic Coarctation, which is the narrowing of a part of the aorta, the valve that takes blood away from the heart to other major parts of the body. She received Open Heart surgery when she was only 6 days old, and doctors hoped she would not need another until she was close to 10 years old. Unfortunately for Mia, her valve just did not grow, making her heart work 10x harder than it should be. Mia pants constantly due to the overworking of her heart. Also, because of the valve not growing, a membrane has formed in and around the valve, causing leakage and swelling in not only her heart but her lungs. Even with the surgery, this will take many months to recover from. I will continue to post updates as frequently as I can or as I learn new things.
Hello everyone,
thank you for visiting, although I am sad to be here again. Baby Mia, no
w 10 months old, is suffering complications from her heart valve not growing at all since birth. She is requiring a $10,000 deposit for her $20,000 surgery, which needs to happen right away. Problem is, her health insurance has reached it's maximum benefits due to her past $90,000 worth of surgery. Her parents are desperately trying to get her on Medicaid in time for the surgery, but we all know how long of a process this may be. Mia needs her heart surgery this week. We are hoping to raise anything and everything we can to help ease the expense of this surgery! I have reached out to you all before, and we were all so unbelievably grateful for your donations. Please, please donate to Mia's cause if you are able! A couple dollars goes a long way when multiple people donate just that! Thank you all for sharing, praying, and donating to Mia's health and future. With love<3
Hello,
just here with an update (5/22). Today is Mom Rosemary's birthday. She's 25 today. Unfortunately, she will not be celebrating this year. Mia's cardiac catheter that was placed yesterday has failed. She will be going in for Open Heart Surgery, again, next week. This means that Baby Mia will require several more heart surgeries throughout her childhood, until her body is full grown. Please donate anything you can for this beautiful family! Thank you so much everyone for all of the donations and prayers! Although her physical heart isn't strong, Mia is such a happy, loving baby! She deserves a long, beautiful life! Thank you all<3
Mia left the hospital today, to come home for a short time, and is feeling very happy to be outside and able to eat again!
July 3rd. Mia has
undergone a failed cardiac catheter procedure and a successful open heart surgery since the last update. During open heart, doctors learned Mia would soon need a new valve as well. Today, Mom and Dad noticed something wasn't right, and brought Mia to the hospital. Mia is currently experiencing heart failure and leakage in her lungs. Please continue to pray for baby Mia. The power of prayer is amazing. Thank you all so very much for your continued support. <3
July 7th.
Tomorrow, Mia will undergo 10 hours of Open Heart and Valve Replacement Surgery. We will do our very best to keep the updates very current. Thank you all SO MUCH for your continuous emotional support and financial donations, for it is still helping to support the parents in this emotional journey of their life.
