Support Mexico

Mexico City was hit with one of the most powerful earthquakes of its history. There are hundreds of buildings that collapsed or are about to. There are people under those structures, some waiting to be rescued, some sadly not.

The main need now is to get possible survivors out of the fallen structures. The structures are made of brick, concrete, and steel, which makes this a slow and difficult task. Thousands of people are on the streets trying to help, but they need supplies: tools, gloves, mouth covers, water, food, medications, etc. All of which costs money.

Mexico has supported Canada multiple times. Most recently, with the Fort McMurray fire. There are a lot of ways to help. Here are some:

1. You can donate directly to the Red Cross Mexico online:
https://cruzrojadonaciones.org/mobile/

2. You can donate directly to Topos Mexico, a nonprofit rescue brigade made up of volunteers that was created after a 1985 earthquake. Topos is accepting donations via Paypal

3. You can donate to this GoFund me campaign. The money raised here will be sent directly to people on the ground and allocated to the needs of the rescue brigades. I have friends and family helping in different affected areas. I will send the money collected through this gofund me camping directly to them to support the rescue efforts.

Mexico needs us now. It's our time to help.

Thanks.

About me.

My name is Javier Salazar. I'm a Mexican living in Edmonton, AB. I was part of Scouts Mexico for 20 years where we helped and supported in multiple natural disasters. I have a lot of friends helping directly on the rescue brigades, but it makes me sad not being able to be on the ground helping. Recently, I collected funds and food to help the affected animals of the Fort McMurray wildfire in Alberta.

I can guarantee that the funds donated through this campaign will be used 100% to support the efforts of the rescue brigades in Mexico City.
