Meredith Brunelle Cancer Relief Fund
I know for most of us, this has been a very difficult year. On top of the Covid pandemic, I was facing double hip replacement surgery in July when we learned Meredith had pancreatic cancer. Our lives were turned upside down.
Mer underwent a surgery to remove 50% of her pancreas with her spleen in July, while my hip replacement surgery was put on hold. During the same time, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes. My sister is hopefully moving towards remission from Multiple Myeloma, after receiving treatment in last December. All of this has taught me to appreciate every day.
Mer’s mother Toby passed away from pancreatic cancer 17 years ago, at the age of 57, and the news of Mer’s illness was very difficult for her family to say the least. Meredith is not even 50, but she is a fighter and will surely beat cancer. I have not seen a stronger, more determined woman.
I also know that it is a long road. She started Folfirinox chemotherapy a month ago and has handled it with toughness and grace and continued to work during this process. She has 5 months, 10 more treatments to go.
During this time, I have done my best rise up and be there for Mer, by bringing humor and joy to her life.
We are now transitioning to be closer to family. I know it is hard for Mer to think into the future, but I know there will be medical and moving costs to come.
It is hard for me to ask for help but I would like to give back to those who donate to our fundraiser. I will be putting up different works and prints of my art for purchase. And I will continue to think on other ways to give back to you as you donate.
Thank you,
Justin & Meredith
