JOHN A. MERCURIO -- BASEBALL RECORDS PROJECT
Anyone who loves baseball is cheating themselves by not reading the works of John A. Mercurio, works which are the fruit of a 30 year love affair with the grand American pastime we call, “Baseball.” Morning Star Books plans to reissue John Mercurio’s previous books, and publish new team record books on each Major League Baseball (MLB) team. But we need your help to do so.
Here’s how you can help: We need to raise $25,000.00 to launch the John Mercurio Baseball Records Project, republish John’s previous books, and publish new team books on every MLB team. Any donation you can make to help us will be greatly appreciated. The $25,000.00 will allow us to complete our website (See http://ozzieguide.com/mercuriobaseball/ for a look at the site in development), publish the first six books and thereby launch the entire series.
John Mercurio has spent more than thirty years compiling baseball records for every major league team. He has recorded every season and career record in batting, pitching and fielding of every player in baseball history. In fact, John Mercurio has compiled and completed chronology record books on all 30 teams in Major League Baseball.
These are not ordinary record books. There is nothing now on the market that directly competes with Mercurio’s books. The team books begin in the first year of each team’s franchise and records every record in chronological order. Thus, each category of a record represents a complete history of that record showing the first record holder and all the subsequent record holders. Typical record books only show the previous and present record holders. But Mercurio does not eliminate anyone. He has researched individual player records of all 30 MLB teams using his now famous "Chronology" concept; posting all the season and career major league records in batting, pitching and fielding. Prior to John's research, no one had ever posted records in chronological order, and he remains to this day, "The Professor Of Chronology Research."
Mercurio has already published six successful books using his chronological method. There are more than 100,000 copies of Mercurio’s baseball books in print. Cooperstown calls him to settled record disputes. He has published record books on the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Major League Baseball, Babe Ruth and MLB Hall of Famers. Mercurio’s work is fan friendly. Baseball enthusiasts love his books. “My objective was to provide an official record book that would show the history of major season and individual records,” Mercurio says. “It seems that every time someone set a record, someone else was eliminated. What I’ve done is add to the record books. Eliminating no one. . . my books show you not only the present record, but what the old records were, who held them and for how long.”
“I cross-checked my information with . . . a lot of other reference sources. I’m confident that these records are as accurate as possible. I was very careful, because, in my own way, I’m trying to make sure that people remember the great players from the past.”

Baseball began with 8 teams and now has 30. Initially, most games were played during the day. Now most are played at night. In the beginning it was travel by horse and buggy, and train. Now it's by jets and private planes. The changes in the game have been so many that the only things that have not changed are three outs to an inning, nine innings to a game and bases 90 feet apart. Now, because one man dedicated more than 30 years of his life to researching and recording records of the games, the great players of the past and those who play today and tomorrow will always live on in our memories. With your help we can make this happen . . . Batter Up!
