Mental Health and the preservation of life
In honour of the people closest to us, Me and my friend Tom Kaylinger have created this Event and fundraiser page to spread awareness about all things to do with mental health and the preservation of life.
This year has been chaotic and challenging for most if not all people around the world. Now more than ever, it is our responsibility to take care of one another and to look out for those individuals who are most vulnerable and closest to us. Mental health and suicide prevention are topics of conversation that deserve greater attention.
This event is designed to hold your attention for a moment, start a conversation between friends and to show and remind anyone experiencing mental health challenges that help and support are available. More than that, we must continue to change the script about how way we speak about these issues. A strong and thriving society is one which not only praises its achievements and feats but one that nurtures all parts of itself no matter how seemingly uncomfortable, stigmatised or frightening.
The Event
On Saturday 5th December, 10 of us will be carrying out a 5km return hike starting at the wentworth falls pass trail in the blue mountains.
This is then Followed by an 82km cycle starting at the blue mountains Faulconbridge train station and finishing our course at the Sydney opera house where our event will be completed in around 8-9 hours total.
All proceeds will go to the Mental Awareness Foundation. The Mental Awareness Foundation support charities that are working directly with communities who are implementing strategies to raise awareness of depression and mental illness, while supporting the preservation of life.
