FLIGHT 293 DISAPPEARED WITH 101 SOULS ABOARD -
Donation protected
My name is Greg Barrowman. My older brother Pvt. Bruce R. Barrowman was on MATS Flight 293. The flight was a military charter which departed from McChord Air Force base near Tacoma, WA on June 3rd,1963. Somewhere off the coast of Southeast Alaska, Flight 293 disappeared along with everyone on board. Families around the United States were devastated.
Surviving family members and friends of those who were lost aboard Flight 293 are working together to raise money to create a stone and bronze monument at Tahoma National Cemetery, not far from what's now Joint Base Lewis-McCord. Our goal is to dedicate the memorial with an event on the 60th anniversary of the loss of the flight: Saturday, June 3, 2023.
We are volunteers who are committed to making this happen to honor those we've lost. All funds will support ONLY the purchase, design and installation of the Flight 293 monument.
