Memorial Bench For Matthew Niemeyer
Donation protected
Matthew said " when I die, find a place for a bench where others can stop and sit for a while, forget their troubles and just enjoy the moment."
Matthew Niemeyer died at age 49 y/o from complication of aggressive Renal Cell Cancer on November 13, 2021 after 6 months of brutal illness. In his life he was an inspiration to us all. Matthew was a great husband of 25 years to Agnieszka and caring father to Sammy, Gracie and Maddie. He was determined to enjoy every moment of his life, whatever he did he put his whole heart into it . Hunting, working the farm, riding the tractor, learning to ride horse just because his girls like them, bird watching , fishing in Alaska and many, many more.
In his work as a surgeon he "strived to preserve and restore vision to body and soul for each of his patients. This was his privilege and joy". He extended this desire to serve in his personal life as well. He was always the first one to help someone in need. You could say that Matthew "lived well and loved well" .
This fundraiser is for a park bench that will be placed in one of the public areas in Sequim. The family will work closely with city officials on exact design (we will make it special) and placement after the funds are secured. We want that bench to be a tribute to the man that had such a positive influence on so many of us!
