Melvin and Markus are our newest heartworm positive Beagles coming in from an over-crowded shelter in Memphis, Tennessee. We believe they are brothers and were found as strays.
Sadly they both also have heart murmurs but are hopeful that the longer they are treated for suspected Lyme disease along with heartworm slow kill, that their weak heart valves will get stronger. We have already seen that happen this year and a few years ago we helped a Beagle overcome her heart murmur completely.
We believe the boys are brothers and maybe 2 years old. While we work on finding Foster to Adopt homes to help them overcome their heartworms, we also need to do very important blood work to determine if they have a Lyme disease infection causing the heart valve weakness while looking at their overall health. The cost per dog for blood work is about $380 each. Then we will need to keep them on antibiotics for the heartworm treatment and also for the tick borne disease.
My hope is that we can raise $900 for the next step in their medical care and recovery. We love our hounds in this rescue and would appreciate any support you can give for their care.
