Cheers, as you may know, my name is Allison (or Ali) and I am Meghan's sister. (1 of 4 + all the extra 'sisters' we've picked up along the way )

On Friday, December 23rd, Meghan suffered a series of seizures which we now believe were caused by a 'cavernous malformation' (a bundle of blood vessels in her brain that may have been present since birth). This will likely need surgery in the future, but right now our focus is helping her heal & recover from the brain injury and seizure. Following the seizure, she was in the ICU for two days before moving to Sharp Memorial Hospital for monitoring. Now, a week after this began, she has moved to an inpatient rehabilitation facility for an expected 7-10 days of physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

At the time of the seizures, Meghan and I were preparing to fly cross country to spend the holidays with our family. That trip has been put on hold as we are unsure what type of support and accommodations Meghan may need until she is 100% recovered. At this point, we know she will be unable to drive for up to 6 months and will need 24/7 support for some time. We are in the process of applying for temporary disability to help her get by while she recovers, but this process can be lengthy and sometimes can take 2+ months before receiving payment. We are raising money to help cover her bills & expenses while waiting on disability income, as well as to help cover the cost of any out of pocket medical costs, travel, and specialty equipment purchases.
