Melonie Bray, a dedicated mother and passionate outdoor enthusiast, built her career as a climbing and paddle sport instructor, training to become a mountain leader. Just as she was set to advance her career, chronic illness turned her world upside down.

Two years ago, Melonie developed severe symptoms, including dystonia, contractures, and chronic pain, leaving her unable to walk. Despite exhausting NHS treatments, her condition persisted. Private healthcare in Ireland revealed Lyme disease and chronic immune suppression, but advanced treatments like Ozone therapy and long-term antibiotics—offering real hope—are only available privately and come with high costs.

This illness not only affects Melonie’s health but also her role as a mother to her 9-year-old daughter. Her partner now serves as her full-time carer, and their family is fighting for a brighter future together.
