On June 21, 2024, Britani was diagnosed with Low-Grade Serous Carcinoma (LGSC) of the ovary—a rare and persistent form of ovarian cancer. Over the following months, she endured multiple surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy, hospitalizations, and extensive treatment. She also endured the worst part of it all - losing her ability to ever become a mom. Through her resilience and strength, Britani was declared cancer-free in January 2025.
However, LGSC carries a high risk of recurrence—up to 70%. Regular monitoring is critical, and a PET scan every three months is essential for early detection and timely intervention. Despite this, Britani's insurance provider has repeatedly denied coverage for PET scans, citing that "ovarian cancer cannot recur without ovaries"—a position upheld even after multiple peer-to-peer medical reviews.
On June 18, 2025, Britani was rushed to the emergency room with severe chest pain and shortness of breath. Imaging at the hospital revealed a concerning mass located between her lungs, near her heart. Given her medical history, there is a real and urgent concern that this may be a recurrence of her cancer.
We are in desperate need of a PET scan to determine the nature of this mass and, if necessary, begin treatment without delay. Time is critical. Britani's life and future depend on swift, informed medical action.
