Our precious daughter, Mayah, has a brain tumor and needs surgery!
She developed progressively worse headaches beginning last September that continued and became more severe. After further evaluation by her pediatrician in January, a brain MRI revealed a one inch tumor adjacent to her brainstem in a vital area. It will be very risky to remove because of danger of damage occurring to the thalamus and basil ganglia.
She had consultation with an oncologist and a neurosurgeon at Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. A brain biopsy on February 9th revealed a benign tumor. She required post operative hospitalization which was frightening for her.
In addition, she required a full spine MRI that revealed more abnormalities. Corrective neurosurgery has been recommended if confirmed by a second opinion.
As you might expect, this has affected her emotionally necessitating consultation and care by a child psychologist at Randall Hospital.
As we wait for options in Mayah's treatment, we appreciate your prayer for our family. Uncertainty of our future and with medical bills coming in, we are grateful for any support you may offer. Mayah's treatment often requires Michelle to stay home with her, which affects our household income as well.
With love,
the Hill Family
