Hi, my name is Amanda, and I'm fundraising for my sister, Meredith. She was diagnosed with Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) in early 2022. Lupus is a disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs (autoimmune disease). This ugly autoimmune disease has led Meredith's health steadily downhill over past few years and she has developed many other health conditions as a result. She faces tough challenges every day and is suffering from physical and emotional pain. Meredith had no choice but to stop working and operating her cleaning and organizational business back in October of 2023. The cleaning chemicals she used on a daily basis were causing chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions, and headaches, thus making her immune system weaker. And, in combination with her Lupus diagnosis, it led to gastrointestinal complications, which required emergency colon resection surgery on November 18, 2023.

Since November 18, 2023, Meredith's immune system has weakened even further. In early April of this year, she discovered toxic mold growth in her home. In the months leading up to early April, she knew she wasn't feeling well and trusted her gut to seek out extensive blood testing. She found out that her body had an alarming amount of mold spores, bacteria, and fungus growing inside. This would require extensive detox treatments because her immune system could not fight off the toxins naturally. She had to make the difficult decision to leave her home in mid-April to seek out detox treatment, which is still currently undergoing. Luckily, she has friends in the Mint Hill area that are so graciously allowing her to stay at their homes until she finishes detox treatments and figures out how to handle the mold problem in her home. This has brought additional stress, worry, and pain to my sister's life. She has depleted almost all of her savings due to mounting medical bills and cannot currently work due to her numerous health conditions.

Meredith is the type of person that will never ask for help. She's such a giving, hardworking, and kind person. She is always caring for others, and I felt it was time to show her that people care for her as well. She means the world to me.
