Our Story:
As a son of a wrench, my earliest memories revolve around fixing cars and watching my father & older brother work tirelessly through the night, as I patiently waited, eager for my chance to help when called upon.
Our family experienced every emotion as our immigrant parents built a better life for us than the one they inherited, with no roadmap but hard work and determination. Responsibility and bills came early. We made it through many long nights working, finding purpose in helping people down on their luck whilst providing them an essential service, even when we didn’t have much to our own name.
Eventually, we helped my father scale from top mobile mechanic to being able to lease and open up his own shop, eventually also setting my older brother up for success with his own shop location in Marina, CA.
My proudest feat is being a present husband and father myself now, while I am also very proud to still be in business.
I am also known throughout the country as an engine builder and owner/operator of Jack Fox Auto— a legacy automotive repair service throughout California and another piece of our story.
In the mid 1980s, right before my mother became pregnant with my older brother, my immigrant father came into Jack Fox looking for a job as a highly touted mobile mechanic in Seaside, CA.
The owner, at the time, denied him the job on improper grounds and never gave him a fair shake, sending him down a different path—with a chip on his shoulder.
Almost 30 years later, with my father by my side, we bought out the same owner that denied him a job years earlier (R.L.) and purchased a failing Jack Fox Auto, while keeping him (the previous owner) on as an employee for a few years to help him transition into retirement.
This was a special time for us as a family, and a full circle moment to say the least, but to us it felt only right to extend a helping hand to a human in need.
Just like we still love to do today.
At a time when social media mechanics and microwave business & tradespeople are dominating social media, we are hoping to bring some authenticity, grit, grind, trust and good ole fashioned home cooking back to the algorithm.
We are NOT here for a cash grab. This is our life’s work.
Through CARma, our aim is to uncover hidden gems and heartfelt stories of people experiencing hardship who really need a helping hand in order to set them up with reliable replacement vehicles to help them turn their life around.
A good, reliable form of transportation goes a long way towards that reality as we spend many hours in our commuters.
My family & I believe in the power of social capitalism, and at a time when many lines are being blurred we hope to remind people how important it is to be a helping hand if you are in the position to do so.
Today, we are blessed to travel all over CA completing services for shops (B2B) and real people daily as well as still operate our own busy service centers full of talented mechanics. While often booked months in advance, we always make an effort to respond to our supporters. Feel free to reach out.
We are also always scouting for subjects in the form of hard to fix repairs owners can’t afford, so feel free to message me with any leads.
Hard to deal with people also welcome.

In addition to all that, we are developing a new restoration shop, paint facility and family business from the ground up, building one of a kind projects— where I am also lead painter and finisher.
Here we are hoping for some more of your help, to help us create and curate an one of a kind shop & original automotive YOUTUBE show similar to the ones that shaped our childhood: imagine West Coast Choppers, Count’s Kustoms, Pimp My Ride and Overhaulin’ all in one with a new twist, flavor and host of characters. Through this avenue we are seeking more unique vehicles and motorcycles of sentimental value that would otherwise rot away, and aim to give them a new life through complete frame off restoration.
