My name is Christine Akin, I am a parent of two children at TBI preschool. It has recently come to my attention that one of our wonderful part-time/sub teachers is in need during this holiday season. She has recently become a single mother of a 16yr old boy and an 11 yr old girl, both of whom also went to our preschool during their preschool years. She is the sole provider for her children. They have been given an lease termination notice, which is up Dec 16th and have been unsuccessful locating affordable new housing. She is a very hard worker, and has been doing her best to make ends meet for the past several months. She currenlty works two jobs, and in her spare time has been putting in applications for low-income housing for which there is a 3-5 year wait list in our area. It was a long and hard process for her to finally reach out for help. But she has now, and let's do our best to help however we can.

It breaks my heart to hear of any families struggling to keep a roof over their heads, but it really hits home during the holiday season and someone I personally know.  It would mean everything to me and to her family if you are able to help in any way nothing is too small or too big! I remember a time in my life, when I was single living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to feed myself....a generous co-worker not much better off than myself would GIVE me money out of her pocket to help. I can never thank her enough or tell her how much that meant to me, my hope is that this can give to Monica what Sharon did for me years ago!

The money raised will go to help keep her family in place and fed through the holidays. The remainder will go to help pay first and last months rent at a new place more inline with their new single-income family budget. I know during the holidays we all spend a lot more, and have donated money to charities already. So anything you can spare would be deeply appreciated.
