Hello,
My name is Steve Levine and I am the founder of the Mayan Dog Rescue Foundation. I moved to Guatemala 2 years ago and after witnessing the lack of help for stray dogs I decided to plant the first seed by rescuing "Cypress", my dog, my love.
Allow me to explain in detail more of the work we have been doing here We will share our process of how we do things here at the Foundation and why your help is so important. We want expand slowly using our past results and accomplishment. Our goal remains to make a tangible impact in the communities we are working with and to create better lives for stray dogs.
Although we rehabilitate, socialize and teach basic training techniques in English and Spanish to all of our rescued dogs. Our main focus has been the most severe cases of broken and battered dogs.

Our last two cases are some of the most difficult ones we have faced.
Raisin ( black and white) was severely malnourished and was diagnosed with TVT. There were two choices; The easy way ( put her down) or the hard way. In extreme cases we chose the second option which is rehabilitate instead of the first option. She have received two treatments of chemotherapy in addition to a wealth balance diet based on coconut oil, avocado, hard boiled eggs and @purina dog food.

Mamma ( Brown and white toothless Pit bull) we rescued from the streets after getting an emergency call. She was malnourished and heartless people used her for breeding for over 5 years and had multiple liters on a row.
Our solution was to go rescue her, bring her to a safe place, feed her, water her, observe her and then bringing her to the vet.
This dog will never be breed again for fighting dogs.

The stray dog problem in Guatemala is bigger than we thought! We have decided to set up our base in Antigua, making it our educational center and most importantly our dog’s playground.
We allow our dogs to run freely in our facility in Antigua. As of today we have ten dogs that we rescued from ten different places here in Guatemala. We teach them to walk on a leash, socialize with other dogs and most important we reach and teach the local community that dogs are part of their family.

We started our collect, neuter, vaccinate, return (CNVR) program over three weeks ago. After identifying the places were most stray dogs come together as packs. We have started a feeding program to build trust in the pack so we are able to CNVR easily without any aggressive or emotional harm to our handlers and most important to our DOGS.
( Dogs getting rehabilitated to start our CNVR program)

Our dream is to find some “forever homes”. But we want to focus on CNVR for all communities. We can only do so much with what we have. This is why your help and support is so vital to the Mayan Dog Rescue Foundation and to the Guatemalan Community.

We value your support and also encourage you to donate and share this link with your family and friends.
Give us a little and we'll show you how much we can do.
In advance thank you for donation and support.
