Goodday, my name is Matthew Campana Chang. As some of you may know, I started my scouting in the 4th grade. Now, I am currently working on my Eagle Scout project with Troop 618, in Trabuco Canyon, California. An Eagle Project requires me to plan out a project, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials, and act as the leader of the project using skills acquired through the ranks as a scout in our community.


My Eagle Project is designed to act as a social and informative entrance for the Tesoro High School Nature Garden as well as their Native Plant Garden with two kiosk/shade structures for students, hikers and anyone else enjoying the surrounding area.


The two kiosk will be built to withstand nature and time, while complimenting the calming scenery around it. The kiosk will feature a bulletin board and a white board to allow students and community members to be informed on recent animal sightings, warnings, and anything else deemed necessary by the Tesoro Nature Club and members. Along with these, the kiosks will have two benches and a shaded roof to provide the users a way to escape the sun and rest together. I plan to start my project in June of 2016 and hope to greatly help Tesoro’s trails and gardens. I expect the project to take around 2 weekends to complete.


In order to make my project a reality, I am asking for the support of my friends, family, and community. The estimated cost of my project is around $1,500. If you are willing to contribute financially to my project, I would be greatly appreciative. Any amount will definitely help me complete the project and earn my place as an Eagle Scout candidate.

To Create this project, CAD design has been used to create a 3d printed model and to render a digital outlook on what is expected to be made. By using CAD I hope to create the most accurate and structurally sound project while maintaining the natural environment it will be placed in. 



These shade structures will be built to last with weatherproof paint, strong wood and plexiglass  windows to protect the informational areas.



They will also feature a raised two sided bench to provide rest for those in need or simply as a social environment. By placing these structures along these trails and gardens, I hope to provide Tesoro with the practicality and utility of these structures but to also bring community members together.
