I'm raising this for my brother-in-law, Mason, my sister Hannah, and their two little boys, ages 4 and 1. Mason is only 30 years old. A few days ago, life changed for this beautiful little family in an instant.

Mason suffered a serious seizure while his 4-year-old son, Scout, was sitting on his lap. After he was rushed to the hospital, doctors discovered a brain tumor the size of a tennis ball. The specialists caring for Mason believe the tumor is cancerous, and he is now preparing for major brain surgery on October 7, followed by what doctors currently expect will include chemotherapy and radiation.

We still do not know everything yet, and we are trying not to get ahead of ourselves, but we have so much hope. Mason is surrounded by an incredible medical team, family, friends, and people who love him deeply, and we are taking this one appointment, one test, and one day at a time.

Before this happened, Mason was the primary provider for his family, working a physically demanding job building boats here in southern California. His doctors have ordered him not to work, and right now his focus has to be on preparing for surgery and the treatment and recovery that will follow. Hannah is doing everything she can to care for her husband while also trying to create as much stability and normalcy as possible for their two young boys.

The financial impact has already begun.

Their health insurance has a high deductible and leaves them responsible for a significant portion of medical costs even after the deductible is met, and bills are already arriving. Mason will need to travel about 40 miles to and from treatment, and their family car already has about 220,000 miles on it. With frequent trips for surgery, appointments, treatment, and follow-up care ahead, reliable transportation has suddenly become an important need.

At the same time, rent, groceries, utilities, childcare, and all of the normal expenses of raising a family do not stop because someone gets cancer.

On top of that, Mason will have some disability income for the next three months, but after that there is a lot of uncertainty about when he will be physically able to return to work.

That's why I'm asking for help.

All donations made through this fundraiser will go directly to Mason and Hannah to support their family through the months ahead.

Funds raised will help cover medical bills and out-of-pocket treatment costs, keep their rent and household expenses paid, help with transportation to and from treatment, secure reliable transportation if needed, and provide counseling or other support for Scout as he processes what he witnessed and the changes happening in his family.

We're also helping Mason and Hannah take care of some of the practical things no 30 and 29 year old parents ever expect to suddenly have to think about, including getting important legal and family documents in order before surgery.

If you are able to give, thank you. Whether it is $5, $100, a recurring gift, or simply sharing this page with someone else, it matters. Recurring donations would be especially meaningful because Mason's treatment and recovery will extend well beyond the first few weeks and predictable support would help them keep up with ongoing household costs and treatment-related travel over time. There is absolutely no expectation, and one-time donations are also deeply appreciated.

We will also use this page to keep everyone updated as best we can throughout Mason's surgery, treatment, and recovery. There will likely be moments when our family is focused simply on getting through the day, but we know how many people love Mason, Hannah, and their boys, and we want you to be able to walk alongside them throughout this journey.

Whether or not you are able to give, please pray for Mason, Hannah, their boys, and the medical team caring for him. Pray for healing, wisdom for his doctors, peace for their family, and strength for everything ahead. Most of all, we want Mason and Hannah to be able to put their energy where it belongs right now: fighting this cancer, loving their boys, and getting Mason home and healthy. Thank you for giving, sharing, praying, and loving this family with us.
