Mary Dunn memorial Cremation Fund

"When my ties to this earthly realm no longer exist, what I want to be remembered for, is my love for the unwanted dogs and their love for me."

In Memory and honour of our friend Mary Dunn.
When time has dried our tears,
And our hearts begin to mend,
Our love for you will remain the same,
Until we meet again.

Mary was born in the United States and in 1972 at the age of 16 moved to Canada with her family. Throughout her adult years Mary was the bingo co-ordinator for the Optimist Club and various churches. She eventually found herself volunteering at the Windsor Humane Society where her love for dogs would soon turn into her passion. For a time she volunteered with Hopeful Hearts rescue before co-founding For the Love of Paws Animal Rescue in 2012 with her brother John.

Her passion had found a home. While her brother John was the legs of the rescue, Mary was the backbone of the organization. She spent her time coordinating the paperwork and transportation of the dogs to the rescue, keeping track of the medical records and booking appointments for the dogs, managing the email, Facebook and website for the rescue and organizing all the events. While juggling all of these tasks, she was surrounded by her adored dogs and many, many fosters. Her love for her own dogs and her passion for saving and finding homes for dogs in need was evident whenever you spoke with her. Since 2012 John and Mary, with the help of many volunteers, have saved the lives and found loving homes for over 800 dogs.

On the night of October 16th Mary passed away at home. Her presence, dedication, hard work and love for the dogs will be missed by everyone with For the Love of Paws, those in the rescue community both in Canada and the United States, her many friends and family but most of all she will be missed by Sierra and her brother John. Mary is now reunited with her parents and her beloved dogs Stone, Wink, Sasha and Snoopy.

Private cremation has already taken place and a memorial service for Mary will take place in the future at Charlotte's Freedom Farm. Details will be posted on the Facebook page of For the Love of Paws.  This gofundme was set up to help her brother John pay for the costs of Mary's cremation. All funds from this fundraiser will be transferred to John. Any funds raised in excess of the goal will be put towards the care of the dogs with For the Love of Paws.

As her friend of 8 years, I will truly miss my almost daily phone calls with Mary and her nagging. I would like to take this moment to thank everyone who finds it in their hearts to donate.

Robert Clark

May the winds of heaven blow softly,
And whisper in your ears,
How much we love and miss you,
And wish you were still here.
