Martin's Fight w/ Multiple Myeloma
Donation protected
This is Ashley Jenkins (Martin Jenkins' daughter) and I have set up a Go Fund Me account for my dad who has Multiple Myeloma. This is his story.
After eight months of numerous doctor's visits, dad finally got an answer on Oct 27 1016. My dad, Martin Jenkins was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. In short, dad has cancer in his bone, and it has spread into his spine. Multiple Myeloma is an uncommon type of cancer with only 0.07% (1 in 143) people will have in their lifetime. At this time there is no cure for it, only treatment to manage it. Dad was referred by his local physician to MD Anderson in Houston. Within two weeks, he was scheduled an appointment on November 11 2016. On November 10 2016 Dad and Lynn traveled to Houston for his first appointment at MD Anderson. That day he had numerous test and a bone marrow biopsy. Their hope was to return home to Meridian on Nov 17 2016, But, the physician recommended the best treatment would be for him to stay in Houston and start treatment immediately. Treatments at this time consist of chemo and at some point a stem cell transplant. Today,November 22, 2016 dad had his second bone marrow biopsy and his first chemo treatment. Lynne has continued to work by flying home to Meridian and then back to Houston. Lynne plans to continue to work which may be weekends only so that he will have insurance coverage. Thankfully, Alison is in Houston and has been able to go with dad to some of his doctor appointments and can check on him. We are hopeful that dad will get to come home soon, but he will continue his treatments at M D Anderson. Dad has been told by the doctors he cannot work being he is immunocompromised from the chemo. So, I have set up this Go Fund Me account to help my dad, Any donations will go directly to Martin. Donations are to help with dad's treatment and for Martin's and Lynn's travel expenses so that Lynne can be with my dad as much as possible. Every donation helps, and if you cannot donate, please share this story, and please pray! We know God is in control and miracles happen every day. I will try to keep everyone updated on here as much as possible. Thank you to everyone who reads, donates, shares, or prays for my family.
