Maroon - a Short Film
Donation protected
Chris, JB, Michael, & Sarah are fundraising money for their upcoming sci-fi drama and adventure film, Maroon. This will be their very last film while studying at Towson, and they need your support!
Meet the Team
Hi everyone! I’m JB Arbogast, a senior at TU and co-writer/director of our short film “Maroon.” I am super excited to be working on a project this ambitious! With this being our last film at Towson, Chris and I knew we wanted to tell a special story, and trust me, this one is. Looking back, it’s amazing to think that I met one of my greatest friends four years ago at our EMF orientation, and we’ve been making films together ever since, each one better than the last. I couldn’t think of a better team to help bring our vision to life, and I hope you’ll join that team by supporting us in whatever ways you can! -JB
Hey all! I’m Chris Edwards, one of the two writers and directors of the short film “Maroon.” I am always pumped about each story I have been able to direct here at Towson, but this one is special. This is my favorite story I have ever written, and I have never been more dedicated to one of my films in my entire life. On top of that, I am so excited to be working with my co-director, JB, one of my best friends and a creative genius. We have an amazing team that is going above and beyond to bring this story to life, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone! -Chris
Hello! I’m Sarah Padula and I am very excited to be able to produce for Maroon. Our group is solid and hardworking, so I know we are gonna make an awesome film. I have been a big fan of Sci-fi movies since I was a kid, I remember watching those giant bug movies on the Sy-fy channel and being totally obsessed. And here I am now, helping create our very own science fiction world and story, how crazy. Thank you so much to anyone who decides to donate and help bring our team's vision to life! -Sarah
Hey there! My name is Michael Bittner, and I am so stoked to help bring the world in “Maroon” to life! This will be my fourth and final time donning the role of cinematographer during my time at Towson University, and it’s shaping up to be our most ambitious film yet. My passion for production is just about equivalent to Ajax’s desperate desire to leave his planetary isolation. The team and I want to thank you for any and all support that you can provide towards making “Maroon” a reality! -Michael
The Story
The story takes place in a future where intergalactic travel is possible. The main character of this film is Ajax, a space traveler who was captured by the TPU, the looming government presence in this story. Ajax was abandoned by the TPU on a moon all by himself 4 years prior to the start of the film. The story follows Ajax, as well as his former crewmates Burr and Cobalt, as they try to escape the planet. The film will look at the themes of isolation and desperation.
Why We Need Your Help
The costs for this film will be high. The following are just some of the costs needing to be covered:
-Realistic and futuristic costuming and prop design
-Actors
-Location permits
-Equipment rentals
-Special effects makeup
-Music & sound effects
-Food for cast & crew
-Transportation
-3D Models for Visual Effects
What You Get
With each donation, you can help bring the film more to life. We will be providing every donor with a private, stable link to view the film when it is released on May 14th. Anyone who donates $25 or more will receive a "Special Thanks" credit in the film (unless you would like to remain anonymous). Those who donate $250 or more will receive an "Executive Producer" credit.
We completely understand if you cannot offer financial support, so the next best thing you can do is share this page on social media and with your family and friends!
Thank you so much for your help, and we can't wait to share our last Towson film with you!
