Early this year, Mark began having abdominal pains. In April it became clear something wasn’t right. It got much worse and he became very sick. After multiple blood tests and scans, procedures, urgent care, doctor visits, and hospital stays, a mass was found in his abdomen. About 3 weeks ago, that mass was removed along with another and about 100 cm of intestines, his sigmoid colon, and 31 lymph nodes. Through the pathology and more specialized imaging, it was determined that he has Low Grade, Stage 4 Neuroendocrine Cancer.
He and his family still have a fight ahead of them as there is more cancer in his body and they are seeking a second opinion from specialists in this extremely rare cancer, out of state. Regardless, it is something he will fight for the rest of his life.
Mark is recovering well from his surgery. With the right care Mark hopes to live a long life!
