Hi, my name is Tonya Carter. My husband Terry and I are seeking to raise funds to help our friends Maribeth and Bill MacKenzie with a medical emergency.

On January 11, Maribeth’s husband Bill was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. After a series of complex diagnostic tests, he was taken into emergency surgery for a procedure on an area of the large intestine with irreversible damage. The surgery has been successful, however, follow up surgeries are anticipated with a long recovery process and considerable accumulation of ongoing medical costs.

Bill has had a very successful carpentry business for many decades and has contributed to beautifying many homes in the community. However, he is self employed without sick leave or disability options. With recovery, upcoming surgeries and treatment Bill is expected to be out of work for 6 months. While Maribeth and Bill have some resources, Bill will have a lengthy recovery. There will certainly be unexpected expenses, and Maribeth will be the sole income provider. It is important that they can focus on the recovery process without the considerable added burden of financial stress.

Maribeth is the owner/director of education of Inlet Yoga in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. For 13 years Inlet Yoga has been a beloved space for yoga, wellness education and community gathering.
