Our names are, Lee and Enrique, and I am writing this with a broken heart.
My mother, Maria Trujillo, was more than just a mother — she was our foundation, our comfort, and our guiding light. She loved with her whole heart and gave endlessly without ever asking for anything in return. Her presence made people feel safe, valued, and deeply loved.
She was also a devout Catholic, whose faith guided every part of her life. She believed in prayer, forgiveness, compassion, and loving others as Christ teaches us. Her faith gave her strength, humility, and grace, and she lived it every day through her actions. Whether she was praying for her family, helping someone in need, or offering words of comfort, she carried God’s love with her always.
Tragically, my mother was taken from us during a burglary and home invasion. The place that should have been her refuge — her home — became the place where her life was stolen. This senseless act has left our family devastated in ways words cannot fully describe. Losing her so suddenly, and in such a violent way, is a pain we will carry forever.
