The Gutierrez/Reyes family is deeply saddened to pass on the news that our wonderful and lovely family member, Marcus Gutierrez, passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2015. Marcus, adopted in 2010 (but fostered from 2006), was a great brother and son of the Gutierrez/Reyes family. Born February 27, 2002, Marcus was the eldest child fostered and adopted into the Gutierrez home. Marcus attended school at the Center for Lifelong Learning School and enjoyed playing with his younger siblings when at home. He is survived by Ana Gutierrez (Mother), Ismael Gutierrez (Adopted Brother), Tanisha Gutierrez (Adopted Sister, Special Needs), Abdul White (Foster Child/Pending Adoption, Special Needs), Kelsey Reyes (Sister), Rodney Reyes (Brother), and Bryan Reyes (Brother). Our mother Ana, who is the cornerstone of our family, has been a foster parent to special needs children since 2000. Despite Marcus’ physical and mental disabilities, he was an inspiring and loving person. The family remembers having Marcus join the household when he was unable to walk, speak any words, and eat on his own (had feeding tube). Doctors initially informed Ana that his current disabilities would be permanent. Within the 1st year, Ana was able to teach Marcus how to walk, eat on his own, and pronounce his first words! We are saddened to have to lose him so soon, but we are proud that he was able to grow so much with us. I am kindly asking for all friends and family (along with foster children advocates) to donate and assist in this time of need for our family. Every generous donation will be extremely appreciated. Thank you for all of your help in advance.
Anyone who wishes to attend Marcus’ memorial services is asked to contact a Gutierrez/Reyes family member for further details.
