Here is why the T.Rex Action Group CIC is raising money in time for Marc Bolan's 48th Anniversary on the 16th September 2025. As happens every year as Marc's Anniversary approaches, we need funds for:

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
1) Dig out all the steps to repaint them
2) Once the wood treatment is dry - infill the steps with new Bark chippings
3) Dig out the stone chippings around the PRS Memorial to repaint the oak sleeper in front and log roll behind
4) Once the wood treatment is dry - infill around the PRS with New Stone Chippings
5) We continually need to raise money to replace, as needed sleepers in our ongoing programme of replacement.

MEMORIAL PLAQUES
The 2005 Memorial Plaques fitted in 2005 came with a 15-year guarantee, so they are five years overdue for changing. We also need to fit two new Memorial Plaques for Jack Green and Herbie Flowers both of whom passed-over in 2024.

MARC'S SHRINE 'BT' - BEFORE TAG

BACKGROUND TO TAG
TAG was granted a lease on the land where Marc Bolan's Shrine is situated. When Kevin & Fee Warner formed the T.Rex Action Group (TAG) in 1999 Fee was still 'smarting' from reading the site described in a glossy magazine in 1995 as "More shit-hole than shrine". Then in 1997 the PRS Memorial was unveiled by Rolan Bolan in September 1997 for Marc's 20th Anniversary. From this point forward, more fans than ever climbed up and down the embankment from Queen's Ride to Gipsy Lane, to see 'The Bolan Tree' on Queen's Ride, before making their way down to the PRS Memorial in Gipsy Lane. This quickly led to a 'goat-track' being worn in the embankment so within months the round cobblestone base was all but buried with soil washed down by rain.

ST. GEORGE'S DAY 1999 - TALK OF BUILDING STEPS
Visiting the site for the first time Kevin, who is not a Bolan-fan, was concerned for the safety of all visitors, not just his wife, said the immortal words "you could do with some steps here!" and so in that moment TAG was formed.

THE STEPS - 2000 - CONSULTING THE RESIDENTS
TAG has always consulted the residents because if we didn't, they would object to planning permission, for the Steps, The Bronze Bust etc. The residents wanted oak railway sleepers, which they felt were in keeping with the 'natural look' they wanted. Brick, concrete or other long-term solutions were all rejected! The residents wanted oak railway sleepers infilled with 'Bark Chippings. The oak sleepers in these conditions where moisture is retained close to them have a lifespan of around 10-12-years in situ, so over the past quarter of a century they have been changed at regular intervals so none of those seen today are the originals installed on the 8th of January 2000.

SEPTEMBER 2002 - THE BRONZE BUST
The Bronze Bust was installed at Marc's Shrine and just as he did five years earlier, Rolan Bolan was there to unveil the Bronze Bust of his father. A guest at the unveiling was Mickey Finn, who knew he didn't long left and he thoughtfully mused, "I'd love to be remembered here when I've passed!" Having heard that it was impossible not to agree when Mickey did pass just four months later. However, we could not give Mickey preferential treatment, so we decided to install Memorial Plaques at the site for all those who had passed over. Fans asked us to include June, and we agreed she should be included.

2005 MEMORIAL PLAQUES ON THE STEPS
In 2005 TAG CIC installed five plaques for: Steve Peregrin Took; Steve Currie; June Bolan Feld; Mickey Finn and Dino Dines.

2021 TAG BECOMES A CIC
In 2021 The T.Rex Action Group applied to become a CIC, which is a Not-For-Profit Community Interest Company. It is in essence, one step down from having full Charity Status. To become a CIC TAG needed to pass the stringent requirements set by Company House, without whose approval Company Registration and Company Number cannot be issued.
