Mandolin's Memorial & Mama's Wellbeing

On Sunday Sept 18, 2022, my 30-year-old son, Mandolin Hooper, died from liver failure. A devastating loss. Thank you for your outpouring of support and offers to help. Funds raised here will offset funeral and memorial costs and contribute to professional support for me during this very challenging time.

On Sept 8th, Mandolin canceled our gig together, saying he wasn't feeling well. On the 15th, I got a call from a hospital saying he had a 50% chance of living beyond six months. I got to him the morning of the 16th. On the 18th, he was dead.

No words describe this profound loss. Mandolin was loved by so many people. His absence leaves a gaping hole in all our hearts and lives.

A virtual memorial service is set for October 9th, with an in-person musical celebration of life in November. Mandolin's workplace, Logan Brewing, will also be hosting a memorial event in November, releasing a "Best Day Of My Life" (Mando's catchphrase) pilsner, with proceeds going to their local animal shelter in honor of Mandolin's love of dogs. I'll post dates and details as they solidify.
