Malu occlusion eye patches

My daughter has been wearing an occlusion eye  patch for over two years to correct her refractive amblyopia.  She needs to keep one eye in complete darkness to strengthen her vision.  She is not a candidate for surgery and we caught it very late. She was essentially going blind before this treatment. The patching has improved her vision from 20/350 down to 20/50. That is huge! This process works! And Malu Eye Patch aims to make the process of patching easier, more motivating, and attractive than the other existing options.

Approximately 2.5% of children have amblyopia. That is 1.87 million children in the United States.
There are also many other reasons children and adults need to wear an eye patch for medical help. Therefore the candidate/customer base could be larger than above number.

The current options are bold, bright, colorful, and often babyish designs. These patches often draw unwanted dialogue and attention from strangers or other children. The current patches blatantly yell out, "look at me - I have a disability!" They are also large and uncomfortable.  These factors make them discouraging to wear.

I have spent years sourcing the best material to create the most comfortable and inconspicuous patch. My designs will be skin colored and feature an image of an eye on them. When my daughter wears my prototype- it is amazing how many people in public do not even notice it on her, in passing. She claims it's so comfortable that she would even wear it to sleep!

Children often resist wearing the patch because of the social implications, as well as how it feels. The children who have tried mine all endorse it and are more motivated to wear this product for treatment .

I have been working with a pediatric ophthalmologist and a dermatologist to legitimize the materials and designs. I have the marketing and sales strategy firgured out. I just need to fund my manufacturing.

My business plan is two fold. One part is to create these patches so that children who need to wear them are encouraged, not embarrassed by them. This will literally motivate them to do it and hence be saving vision for children.

And the second part is giving back. 10% of sales will be allocated for a foundation I am creating in conjunction with Malu eye patch. I promised myself that if my daughter's vision recovered, and we saved off blindness, I would do something to help create awareness for preventative vision screenings. My goal is to help pediatric medical services and pre schools have vision screening machines. Because my cause is raising awareness of pediatric ophthalmological health, all demographics will benefit.

I am asking for this money because I know the numbers will work and this company will be a success. I believe in the power of creating a business which serves to help others. The creating and manufacturing of these patches is a challenging upstart cost. I am confident I can easily reach the patients who need these and sell them at a fair and affordable price.
Please help me help others to see how beautiful this world is!
