This is really hard for me to share, but we’ve reached a point where we need short-term help to get through the next few weeks.

I’m currently in the final weeks of pregnancy and have been advised by my doctor and midwife to finish work due to pregnancy-related symptoms and the timing of my due date. I’ve been doing everything I can to keep things going, but without access to paid maternity leave, stepping back from work now creates a gap we simply can’t cover on our own.

I’ve applied for Centrelink support, but even if approved it would only cover about half of our rent and won’t begin for weeks. Our weekly rent is $700, which leaves a significant shortfall during this time. Without short-term help, we face a real risk of losing our housing right before our baby arrives due to cost of living and unable to move due to the rental crisis.

We’re asking for support for just the next 5 weeks — until our baby is born — to help cover rent, basic bills, groceries and a small emergency fund if anything pops up unexpectedly so we can stay housed and stable during this short period.
