Makhila's San Francisco Campaign


I started dancing when I was about 4 years old at The Bronx Dance Theatre and went there until I was about 10 years old. As of than I attended The Harlem School of The Arts, which is a decision that I am beyond happy that I made. The Harlem School of The Arts impacted me mentally, physically, emotionally, and made me the dancer and young lady I am today. On the side before I start my classes at The Harlem School of The Arts, I go to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, which is a school that had also affected my dancing, by me being inspired by the company and other young dancers around me. 

Now, I attend A small ballet school called Premiere Divsion (that is based on the French School of Classic Ballet), and I go there six days a week. My ballet teacher Nadege Hottier pushes me everyday to be the best me I can be,  her training is very rigorous and sometimes I get frustrated and want to give up,but she would never let that happen and she always inspires me with her words of wisdom. On the side, I train at The Harlem School Of The Arts, where I've attended since I was 12, and the instructors there also inspire me so very much by pushing me and believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. I love dancing, especially ballet with all of my heart, and I know this is what I want to do with my life, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be succesful. Being a ballet dancer isn't easy, especially a brown one,but im willing to step out of my comfort zone to follow my dreams and do what makes me happy... And this is where you guys come in. I was accepted into the San Francisco Ballet School for their summer intensive,but I was only given a partial scholarship. Last year I was also accepted for their summer intensive with a full tuition schcolarship, but I had an ankle injury and I had to get surgery that summer which was a major setback,but I kept pushing. So I am asking for your help to help me fundraise 4,000 for my room and board, tuition,uniform, and living lol!
