Maisie Maeve Fund
On the 1st of December this year our lives were turned upside down , our little Maisie Maeve was born sleeping. Maisie was already so loved not only by us but her two beautiful sisters Sophia and Charlotte and they couldn’t wait for her to arrive . Sadly things didn’t go very well, Maisie Maeve was delivered by the most fantastic team in the UL maternity hospital Limerick to whom I owe my life , after delivery Maisie Maeve was washed and dressed in the most beautiful clothes and hat that someone linked with the unbelievable charity that is Fèileacáin had knitted for babies in a situation like ours, as things didn’t go very well for me I was taken straight to UL hospital and I was in the high dependency unit for a week all while Maisie Maeve was at the other side of town in another hospital, while I was there a lady from the bereavement team contacted us and asked would we like Maisie to brought over to see us ! We were absolutely delighted , the lady explained about cool ‘cuddle cots’. The specially designed cool cuddle cot , has a thin mattress is filled with cold water and then connected to a cooling unit which is plugged in, keeping the mattress constantly cold. Because of this specially designed cot we finally got to meet our beautiful Maisie Maeve in less stress-full circumstances and we got to spend as much time with her as we needed to for the week and in this time our family members also got to see Maisie Maeve and say good bye.
As we were in such a horrible situation we were not thinking about memory’s and the important things so we could remember our baby and have all those special things forever but again Féileacáin has that covered they also give parents like us a keep sake box . In our keep sake box we got A Hand knitted blanket ,two small teddy’s, a small box with smal plastic bag provided to keep a lock of her hair, a memory booklet, poems, support for you leaflets, hand and foot prints kit, a candle and a tiny jar of lip balm for the baby and more . I would not have thought of any of these things with all going on but they are provided by Féileacáin . So our aim is to raise as much money as we can to buy atleast one cool cot for the maternity hospital Limerick and towards the beautiful keep sake memory boxes that we have and will cherish for the rest of our lives . Please donate what you can and share the link any way possible as I don’t want our child to ever be forgotten and if we can do some good in her name it would make us very happy and other families going through the same heartbreak !
